Flip Your Back to School Night
As we begin to bring another exciting school year to a close we reflect upon what went well and what we would like to change for the upcoming school year. This past Saturday I had the pleasure of hearing Scott Bedley speak at a conference hosted by Tim Green from Cal State Fullerton called Think. Create. Share.
Scott is a phenomenal teacher who teaches 5th grade at Plaza Vista in Irvine, CA. He was selected as the 2014 Orange County Teacher of the Year, California State Teacher of the Year Finalist. He’s also the 2013 Project Tomorrow's Innovative STEM Teacher Award winner. He is also the creator of Technology Applied Science Fair and co-host The BedleyBros EdChat Show.
In the spirit of the conference, Think. Create. Share, let’s take a moment to reflect upon an activity as educators we all know too well - Back To School Night! In my interview with Scott he’ll share what he has created as an alternative to the traditional back to school night model through what he calls the flipped back to school night and he’s sharing it with all of you! Enjoy :)
To see how Scott organized his Flipped Back to School Night you can visit the 5th Grade Class Site.
Thank you for speaking with us Scott and we look forward to hearing more about your innovative adventures in education!
