CONCEPT: Feed animated recycling bins then watch as the contents are recycled into new products.
DELIVERY: Colouful and vibrant are two words I would definitely use to describe this app which is good since it is aimed at younger learners. Rubbish items are produced at the bottom of the screen and three different recycle bin characters are ready to be fed the correct junk. Feed them the wrong thing and they spit it back out at you.
You then use a crane to grab a full bin and it moves on to a factory setting where you can interact with the machine until ultimately producing something new. This is then carried onto a picnic scene to show it being used (eg batteries in their radio or a bottle of drink) whilst interacting with various elements of the image.
When the object is used up, it is carried up to the bins screen again however they may have changed - there are bins for paper, plastic, batteries, glass etc. this is a nice touch as it adds some variety to the rotation.
LIMITATIONS: The use of a language neutral interface can often benefit apps aimed at the very young. In this case though, it makes it a little confusing and some sort of guidance would definitely have been beneficial. Links to the real world process would also help contextualise the learning - be it through weblinks or video content.
CONCLUSION: Colourful and engaging but a little limited in scope and somewhat repetitive. 3/5
