CONCEPT: Stop motion animation and time-lapse image capture.

DELIVERY: You will be greeted by a simple interface that is easy to use. You are provided with two image-capturing options – time lapse and stop motion.

The setting options for time-lapse capture allows for the duration between images to be set in a variety of ways. You can set a maximum number of frames to be taken, adjust the amount of time in minutes that the images will be taken for and set the time duration between image captures in seconds.

Playing with the adjustable aspect ratios, frame rate and play back speeds provides a little editing control over the end product. Frames are easily duplicated with the touch of a button and removed with an upward swipe, and can even be moved in the time line by holding and dragging.

A good App that exports to your camera roll for use in iMovie, Book Creator or numerous other Apps where you can add text, a sound track or oral reflection to the animation.

LIMITATIONS: Setting up your device to capture images is tricky. Stop motion and time-lapse imagery usually require a consistent camera position, which is hard to maintain with an iPad. When completing time-lapse remember to switch your screen lock off to avoid your device closing and you missing those important images.

CONCLUSION: Capturing an experiment, plants growing in an inquiry unit, breaking down a procedure or making a stop motion video without expensive and difficult to use programs is now a possibility.

    APPLICATIONS:

    ·      Visual Storytelling

    ·      Procedural activities

    ·      Scientific experimentation capture

    ·      Inquiry investigations
