After having collaborated with the iPadEducators in Dubai for quite some time, I had the pleasure of meeting Steve Bambury, co-founder of the site during the winter holiday. He gave me a book called, “The Gamification of Learning and Instruction” by Karl Kapp. It was probably one of the best presents I had ever received because my goal for the New Year was to research and explore ways to gamify professional development! Kapp’s book provided great insight into what it truly means to gamify learning and instruction. He believes that we must move beyond rewards, points and badges and look at the deeper elements embedded in a game that truly engage the player.
In part one we begin by taking a look at, "Who Moved My Cheese," by Spencer Johnson that examines how people respond to change in their environments. How do you view change? Opportunity or threat?
