We are incredibly happy to bring you a conversation with Eric Sheninger where he shares his exciting journey in becoming a Digital Leader. Eric is a Senior Fellow and Thought Leader on Digital Leadership with the International Center for Leadership in Education (ICLE) and Scholastic Achievement Partners (SAP). He also maintains a presence as a practitioner by serving as the K-12 Director of Technology and Innovation in the Spotswood School District (NJ). Prior to this he was the award-winning Principal at New Milford High School. Under his leadership his school became a globally recognized model for innovative practices. Eric oversaw the successful implementation of several sustainable change initiatives that radically transformed the learning culture at his school while increasing achievement.
In this interview Eric shares how social media was really the catalyst in bringing change to New Milford High School. At New Milford Eric led his community as they transitionined away from being a place that prepared students for a world that no longer exists to preparing students for a world that is unknown and rapidly changing, all while raising student test scores, decreasing issues with discipline and implementing state standards.
In today's day and age where many leaders are faced with the challenges of how to respond to rapidly changing times and trends, Eric outlines a strategic plan that others can implement immediately. Eric presents a plan for how leaders can create a culture of leading and learning in changing times.
He does not make one feel like this is one more item to add to your plate, rather Eric presents how digital leadership is who you are and what you do. Eric's opening is particularly powerful, as he begins to describe his day you will immediately think to what your day looks like, challenging you to question what decade are you leading in and perhaps more importantly what decade are you preparing your community for. Eric shares how leaders of today can engage all members of their community to learn and move forward together. Digital Leadership not only tells the story of why leaders must adapt to today's changing times, but also provides a thought out purposeful plan from answering the "why" to how you can leverage the power of social media to tell your story.
