CONCEPT: A mathematical take on the classic Reversi board game.
DELIVERY:Whilst I'm a little bored looking at maths game apps these days as there are just sooooo many of them, this one did stand out to me through the unique delivery. You can elect to either play against the computer or a human opponent and the premise is quite simple - capture the most squares on the game board. This is accomplished by correctly answering mathematical questions. These take the form of a multiple choice matching process and correct answers avail you with additional moves. Golden coins can also be collected from certain squares which open up a bonus question that rewards you with the free choice of any open square.
A strategy element is introduced in a similar way to the classic game known as Othello or Reversi - if you can claim two tiles with any number of the opponent's tiles in between, they are captured and convert to your colour. This makes players think ahead and employ logic as to which tiles to claim in what order. Naturally he player with the most tiles at the end of the game is the winner. With more than two fraction themed objectives, there's a fair deal of variety on offer and room for differentiation too.
LIMITATIONS:The app is currently only focused on fractions but more content packs are due... That being said, the price for the fractions pack alone is fairly high compared to a lot of similar apps and if each pack is set at the same price, this could be a hefty investment for a school!
CONCLUSION: A novel idea, delivered well that has promise as the app develops further. 3/5
