At the start of the new school year our Year 6 students will be studying World War 2. 8mm is a camera app that will enable them to record videos with genuine vintage feel. There are a number of really cool features that make this app not only really effective, but incredibly fun too. Record the video with a series of different video filters that replicate different eras of cinematography and export them to your camera roll.
For my children and their WW2 project, the 1920s option will be the most effective. Check out a clip of 8mm in action.
There are a good few options to adjust the frame, apply different filters and even to add a classic frame jitter to make the videos as authentic as possible. The option to add films from the camera roll gives the user the additional benefit of being able to narrate over prerecorded movies. The only drawback I’ve noticed so far is that the film after the filter has been added seems to be a little pixelated.
