This year my students were searching for a new way to make online presentations. This app and online tool really is more of a newsletter, but my students loved using it as an alternative to Pages, Keynote, Google Slides and Google Documents.
Although Smore is a newsletter, it really is an interactive newsletter. It comes alive with videos too. It is easy to use and free for the basics. Students just make a log-in, and it is easy to create from there.
Students can share this on social media as well. This was a key component for my students because they knew that their audience became much bigger. They took lots of pride with these projects using Smore because they were able to make it come alive as well as sharing it with a broader audience.
My students used Smore for a variety of things this year, but the biggest one was to create a profile on Shakespeare. Some made a dating profile with his biography and a video showcasing his best attributes. It was fun and an interactive process. They learned about Shakespeare’s background before they read Romeo and Juliet.
So if you are looking for something easy to use this is it! Smore makes newsletter and content come alive while providing students with the tools to be creative.
